All Big Six Long runner carbed intake?

Relates to all big sixes

So, I wanted to test out my "new" 50' 10ga cord, against varied loads, and I've been inspired by other's intake shenanigans...

A long water heated plenum was a nice part of this 3.7 Mercruiser intake that I'm not going to run.
I have several Rochester 2bbl carbs from the 3.7 and 250 Chev marine engines I've amassed. I have a near-new 500 Holley, but think it's too big for my plan, but can easily adapt it if I want to try it.

Nicer sch40 bends are on the way, but some import donated it's intake runners to science, good enough for visualizing.

What are you getting out of this design that you wouldn't get from hacking the throttle body portion off of a EFI upper and replacing it with your own carb mounting solution?

Not having to cut the cowl out of my Econoline for clearance?

I do have a pair of YH carbs though, so that's not out of the question.
The Sherman tank carbs are going on the 3.7 flange

Following. I love this kind of stuff.
"Normal" is for people who actually want to complete and drive their stuff :rotfl:

The runners will be kooky, but the PCV at each end of the valve cover, and the supply tube from air cleaner housing to the center, will each only be a couple inches of straight hose.

Heater core is pretty much in line with the water pump, so the oval part of the 3.7 intake in pic, to the water jacket, will have both fittings, the inlet having a tube inside to the rear, so it flows throughout. Simple, short lines, again.
