Hey all, was looking for an Aussie head earlier but am switching trying to find a large log for my daughter’s 200 I6.

She is a student at the McPherson College Auto Restoration program, she has a 67 Mustang and is rebuilding her engine.

If anyone has one they be willing to part with, please let me know.

Thanks

Brian

I've got a D7 head, 1345cc log. I'd like $100 for it.
I just did a quick and dirty shipping calculation ( WV to McDonald, KS) and it would be over $160.
Shipping to Kansas City, KS would be $140.

Someone local would be cheaper. If you're still interested, let me know.

Cool to hear about your daughter! While you can comb your local Craigslist, FB and similar; local machine shops, job shops and even mechanics can have leads for you. If nothing else, a line to local U-Pull-It/Pull-a-Part/Pick-n-Pull to get on a watch list.

The Wichita PickYourPart has an '81 Mercury Capri, and while the VIN is incomplete/bad, if the engine code is B, then it's a 200. Don't have prices or it could be bogus. Good luck!

Keep in mind that a 70 and up 170 is a large log but is better because it has about the size camber as a small log 200, so compression can be kept up with less milling. The 200/250 large log chamber is about 10 cc larger than the small log. So do not discount a large log 170 if going NA.

Ah ha! I think that is what I have, with the two barrel mod. If I remember right it was from a mid 70’s Bronco (?). I’d have to look back. I was concerned since it was from a 170, I fell better now😅

Nope, mine is C4AE-G

Geez, there are several cylinder head remanufacturers online with ready-to-run heads for less than that eBay head. Call 'em for specific casting numbers.

Yea, that 170 head is way overpriced. I saw another one on eBay a couple years ago for half that price. Being patient and keeping your eyes open will usually get you a much better deal. I've bought four large log heads in the last few years and the most I paid for one was $100 at a junkyard. And that was the only one with cracks, I got a refund though. I also paid $100 for a pair, and $20 for a single one. I just saw a running 250, complete from air cleaner to oil pan, sell nearby after asking only $250. They're out there. Keep looking.

Shipped and received diesel engines and generator heads to and from other Fastenal stores around the country.

Another company I use is:

And they probably don’t have sheared exhaust studs🤦

Also this head is said to flow better because of the smaller chamber. What is known is that for NA is it should tolerate more compression because of the larger quench and squish pad cooling and mixing the fuel air mixture.
The first of the large logs 170,200/250 also had the highest and largest runners. They lowered and made the runners smaller in the first change also the water jacket was made smaller around the chamber I suspect to help run a little hotter for better emissions and fuel economy about 74 maybe 75. Next change was a larger intake valve around 77. Then about 81 the Hex head came out with a larger hex shaped log, this is good but it makes tri-power or a two barrel adapting harder.

Where was the 250 located?

Sorry, don’t know where I got the idea from, but my head is the DODE 6090 A.
Was looking for thermactor ports

Hate to bump this thread, but permissions restrict me from private messaging.

If you still have that D7 head on your hands, I'd gladly take it for what you're asking.

Thanks,

Jesus N.
