Generally, FSPP headers are better quality then Clifford.

Plus they are priced better too! :D :D

Go with mike AZ coupe, www.fordsixparts.com He has the best quality & the best price. The choice is the pacemaker dual outlet or he also carries the hookers 6601 headers both which are jet hot coated. The hookers have a smaller diameter primary pipe & are longer before they go into dual collectors. The pacemakers have a larger & shorter primary tube for more top end. The hookers will give you more low end & midrange.
Don't even waste your time with clifford. william

Go with Mike, you could probably to Clifford to pick up the headers and get them faster from Mike.

is your motor fairly stock? the reason i ask is i'm wondering if dual outlets are too much.. i have a 170 and plan on just doing the H/W5200 conv., duraspark conv., and headers/exhaust for now. thanks

my 200 is completely stock. and im running true dual flowmaster 40 series delta flow and everyone complements the sound from the mechanic at work who said it would sound like crap to another guy with a 67 shelby-he had to open the hood to be persuaded it was the same motor! yes the flows are a little loud even with the windows close but im adding some sound deadner in the next few days and then ill see.

For Chandler, et. al.,

If I had the $ for only one upgrade, would you suggest headers & exhaust? I had thought for the money that I'd do DSII and Holley 2300 350cfm w/adapter. Probably similar cost. I'm also looking for dependability as this is a driver.

mildly modifying,

Ignition is first. My experience with headers on a standard engine was quieter exhaust (go figure) maybe a slight increase in responsiveness and economy, but very debatable.

Ignition on the other hand - especially hooked up to manifold vacuum for a daily driver - was peppy and fun. This wasn't good for mileage.

Bang in a rebuilt D-II, good coil, and spend some time adjusting the advance curves (vacuum and mechanical).

Maybe some higher ratio rockers after that.

Adam.

i did exhaust first only becasue i was so sick of the drone from the ancient exhaust system. but you can do what ever you want. also i guess i figured that id start with exhaust bc whats the point of increasing the flow into the motor with the same restricted sick sounding exhaust?

Ignition should be first. It will increase the general drivability of your car far more then many other upgrades. If operating on a limited budget, Go ignition (either DS2 or Pertronix), then add MSD and a 2V carb. Then go Exhaust.

Dual outs will work fine with stock engine. Just don't go crazy on the exhaust piping, you're not going to need 3" pipes. 1.75-2" will be great.

Thanks for the tips everyone. This kind of ordering is really usefull.

One other question: will I see any gains with a 350 cfm 2300 over stock if I don't modify the head at all? I'm trying not to take it off because I'm not quite ready to mill, port and zero deck the block.

If mods are the best way to realize gains in performance, reliability and/or mpg, I'll grind up intake hole via the rag/vacuum cleaner/(super strong magnet?) method discussed by others, of course, after I install the DSII.

thanks,

after you grind the intake hole...YES...if you dont grind the intake hole...yes! (small yes)
