I've heard there was a bell housing that was made to use on the 170 single pattern engine that you could use the larger flywheel and clutch with. I want one of them. Anyone have one or know where one is?

The only one I know of was here in Australia. It was an adaptor which carried a Ford part number, used to adapt the early block to the (larger) Aussie bell.

addo,
An adapter would be OK if it would take an US bell. What I am wanting to do is put a T85 OD trannie behind my 170.

What if you were to use the stronger clutch (from an Alfa) that Rickwrench spoke about fitting, and keep the small flywheel?

It isn't that I need a stronger clutch. I need a clutch that will take a bigger input shaft and so the throw out bearing will fit on the pressure plate.
