Hi ya'll.
I've got a 64 falcon futura convertible that I need some expert help finishing. Hopefully this month.

Problems:
1. 170 engine with Bad three speed manual trans. Need to install new one.
(might be able to get a c-4/200 motor combo, but I have no expertise to do this job. Anyone who has?)
2. No horn.
3. Heater doesn't work.

LA/So Cal suggestions appreciated.

Welcome, but I would imagine a lot of people here, like me, do thier own work.

One of the reasons I drive 40 year old cars is that I can fix a horn wire or re-build a heater (and know it was done right) in less time than it takes to drive to a mechanic and get a ride back. Its not even the cost anymore, I just hate the inconvenience.

You'll get a lot of valuable advice on the engine swap or other repairs if you ask, but you might be barking up the wrong tree for mechanic suggestions.

Anyway, maybe someone can be more helpful . . .

CW, I own a shop in Anaheim, CA that all we do is 60-68 fords. We have a pretty good selection of used parts. I have two convertibles here right now that you could take a look at. We have excelent refrences and lots of photos of our work. call us and we can give you an estimate and maybe help you out. We have free towing and can pick up the car as well.

Yeah, actually Todd has been pretty helpful to me on machine shop/ engine building work and is generous with advice. I didn't know he did repair type stuff. He seems like a great place to start.

There is a guy on Fairfax near Beverly that does a lot of mustangs but I haven't heard such good things about him and he seems entirely uninterested in straight sixes.

I'd say Todd is your guy.
