eBay Low Profile Factory Air Cleaner

Hello,
Those are not worth that amount are they????
Mike
Absolutely not! Not to me and most other people anyway. With a short production run they are kind of rare. But that's eBay - make an offer. I just thought I'd post it as an example of something useful to keep an eye out for, not as an example of a good deal. Here's an air cleaner that's relatively common and they still want a fortune for it - Ford passenger cars in the 60s with a 240 often had a SCV 1101 carb and their air cleaners fit 1100s as well as the 1101. I paid $20 for one a couple years ago, this guy wants hundreds! -

Maybe I should have resold it, instead I cut it down to this minimalist open element style air cleaner for my ‘69 1101. 1101 carbs are kind of hard to find air cleaners for that fit the carb and under the hood. 1101 air cleaners fit an 1100, but 1100 air cleaners usually won't fit an 1101.

I've bought several factory housings from ebay, the 240 has one from a '77 Jeep. Greatly prefer the enclosed/snorkel type for several good reasons. Point- $250 is way too high. As good shape as it's in, $150 is in the ballpark, even though that seems high. Paid $110-$135, and they weren't in as good shape as this one.

I am watching that housing on ebay to get notifications of price drops. I don't really need it but for the right price I might buy it as these parts are becoming less available; and I hoard parts I guess. I have the same one on my Bronco currently.

Yea, I never drive my car in the rain anymore, much less through deep mud, so the open element is no big deal to me. Granted, a snorkel also lets you duct cool air to the carb. But the original air cleaner on my car was one of those snorkel-less all bottom draw versions that got nothing but warm air rising up around the engine, so at least it's no worse than that, maybe a little better. And I'm not scratching for every half horsepower I can find, so looking kinda cool counts too...

$250 ! - I must have a fortune in my junk pile ... The 250 AC's may be fairly rare but are not in much demand either and doubt any bids at that price.
.
250 AC is a good candidate for mods for alternate carbs.

*** - first offer of $250 for the already modded' 250 AC for 32/36 carbs will be accepted ... 😎

have fun

That's quite a stack under the carb on your testa rossa! Too bad Ford designed the log intake with the mounting holes bestride the inlet at an odd angle, you still need the spacer to make most carb adapters sit square.
