Making an air box

Ever since I installed my hood scoop, I've been looking at making an air box so the scoop is more functional. Right now all it really does is cool the engine, since I'm just using the stock fender air intake setup for now.

I'm planning on having the box be two piece, offset bottom plate that could be swapped for different carbs and a surround that would be held down by the filter (K&N X-Stream Flow) or clips.

Any suggestions or designs would be appreciated! :D

Your best bet I think would be to make a aluminum or fiberglass box that fits up to underside of hood scoop.

That and adapting a March ramair kit uing a carb bonnet are about only ways I know of.

The main Idea I had was a carb bonnet Attached to a extender piece of metak or plastic, probably plastic since thats less inclined to absorb underhood heat.

Anyhoo run that over to under hoodscoop and attach a conical airfilter to end of extender piece. Add maybe some sheet aluminum in strategic places to limit heat rise and you should be able to draw in plenty of cool air from hood scoop.

Or if ya just want to get crazy add an elbow at end of extension and size it so you can add an aircleaner so it looks like a V8 aircleaner sticking up into the hoodscoop. That and dual outlet exhaust will psych out a few into thinking you have a V8. Imagine their suprise when its a killer inline.
