monte carlos bars...same for v8 as I6?

A friend of him has a has an unrestored 66 shelby and the monte carlo bar is different from any that I have seen. Rather than being straight across, it is angled in the middle like a chevron (not curved like the ones to clear a cobra air cleaner or the bars specifically for the sixes). It would solve clearance issues of our sixes an looks like it would be easy enough to modify an existing mc bar but I don't have access to a welder. I have been after him to send me a pictures but now i guess i'll call him again.

Neither will work correctly. You can get the straight bar and redrill some holes. But they are not made for the I6 since the bend is in a different place. National Parts Depot does make one for the I6 but my friend bought one and returned it because he said the fit was not good.

Yeah, I bought the straight and later the curved from Mustangs Unlimited... neither fits correctly... my air cleaner, fuel line into the carb and oil brether cap all are in the way. I ended up mounting the straight one on about 5-6 inches forward of where it should go, figuring a little is better than nothin'. Stiffness-wise, anyway. You guys know what I'm talkin' about.

Don’t know if it’s the same or different than what you’ve seen, but here it is anyway.
I think it would work with a log head, but I think the curve needs to be more to the passenger side with a 2V head.

The Delta Bay bar does not fit correctly either. Plus he does not even stock them. He makes them when someone orders one. Last time it took him 1 year to make a bar for one of my club members. I know the owner, he is a sponser of my club.

I'm running a H/W 5200 with a small chrome air cleaner. My bar fits correctly (straight) with the bolt holes alinging perfectly. There are different bars for 67-68. Most people dont realize there is about an inch difference in width from the earlier years. The yahoos at the parts store will tell you it is a universal bar but that is not true. I think I got mine from Virginia Mustang? Check through the catalogues and you'll see what I mean
