I recently did the shopping for an elec fan to install in my 65 Ranchero, I6, 200cid and came to the conclusion that it won't fit without cutting up the car. Am I wrong? Didn't think about the two fan thing. I only have 1 1/2" in front of the rad (to the hood latch lever) and 2 1/4" behind it. The thinnest fan I could find is a 2 5/8" from Summit Racing.

Does anyone out there have an elec fan installed in a square bodied Falcon and did you have to cut up the car?

8) some modification is going to be required, but there are some tricks you can use to minimize the mods. one is to have a rad shop move the rad mounting flange toward the rear of the rad to give you about 3/4" foreward mvoement. you may have to mod the rad support to allow the rad to move forward that much. that should give you clearance you need. also there is a new fan on the market, spal i think puts it out, that offsets the fan motor so you have an even thinner package to mount behind the rad. they use a belt to drive the fan with an eletric motor. they save something like an inch or more in thickness.

Hey rbohm,
I'm interested in that belt driven fan you mentioned.
I looked on Spal's website and I couldn't find anything listed
You got any more info on that or where you saw it???

Thanks

8) i saw it in street rodder magazine, and it may be built by flexilite, i will have to look for it and let you know.

UPDATE: found what i was looking for. go to www.the-fan-man.com the product you are looking for is the sidewinder fan. the fan and the motor are made by spal(i guess that is what confused me).
