I have been under the impression that long tube headers are better for low end torque and so shorty headers are for the opposite. Is that correct? Some of the long tube headers are "tuned" because each pipe is the same length and some are long tube headers with different pipe lengths-not sure why and what for. Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Yes that is partly true, generally on a dyno the shorty’s will not produce quite as much Torque or HP as a long tube set. Than if you add a full or part exhaust system after the headers it will also have an effect as will the dia. of the pipe number and type of bends etc. Equal length is important in a race apt. as are the tube dia. and the collector length will tune HP to a certain RPM.
