Ok here comes the long story lol...First off I have a 74 Maverick...I just pulled out the engine which was a 65 (170or200, haven't got around to pulling the pan off and seeing how many bearings it has)...I've been in the process of installing a 78 250/c4 trans for the past 3 weeks...The 250 is out of a granada..We'll today my dad and I finally got a chance to get everything hooked up until we got to hooking up the shift linkage onto the 78 c4...The shifting linkage on the granada was cable operated and the one on my Mav is not...The shifting (shaft, ear, not sure of the correct name lol) is flipped about 180* on the 78 c4...This is kinda hard for me to explain in words, but the linkage on my mav needs to pull the ear on the 78 trans in order to put it in gear put it pushes it instead...Let me see if can explain this a little better
The shaft/ear on the 78 c4 is in park with it pushed all the way back towards the rear of the car...My old trans (74 c4) is in park with the shaft/ear all the way towards the front of the car...I'm just wondering if any of you have come accross this and know of an easy fix as opposed to dropping $200 for a floor B&M shifter...I'm thinking of make some sort of a horseshoe bracket so that my cars linkage can push the shaft/ear the correct way...That seems to be the only thing holding me back right now...We did get the new/old motor running though, and boooy does it sounds nice...I can't wait to take it for a test drive tomorrow...hopefully
...Oh yeah, and after starting up the engine for the first time, now I need to change out the water pump lol...I know, I know, i should've changed it before putting the engine in the car...I appologize for the long story and I hope someone understands what I wrote lol...I'm a little tired right now so I hope I'm able to get my point accross...thanks in advance for any response
