Need higher comp. pistons for 200 I6

Anyone know a good place to get higher compression pistons for a 22, 6 cyl. Clifford doesn't seem to offer them anymore.
 
If your just wanting to run a higher C/R you can get an NOS steel gasket, there only .025 thick and compress down to about .018 which is about .025 thiner than the new composit gaskets of today! Or if your rebuilding the engine do what my son did and deck the block to .000 and install Ford Tempo Flat Top HSC pistons with a new thick gasket his is still 9.6:1

Like Mustangaroo said, Cast Tempo 2.3L HSC flattops or Ross racing pistons list a special order piston for the 200's.

Another option tossed about is using Chevy 305 standard bore pistons and boring 200 block .050" oversize and having piston end of rod reamed and bushed for Chevy wrist pins. You would ahve to play with deck height.
 
Thanks, I will check into these options. I thought maybe someone made a replacement piston or something, Clifford use to offer them.
 
ACL/Mahle make good pistons for the sixes. Not as boutiquey as someone like Ross. Good enough quality for the OEM Falcon twin-cam turbo six.

Howdy texas thunder , you can get 2 types of high comp pistons from
ACL australia .they make a flat top 6mkry9410 pistons which has a 10:1
comp ratio @72cc clearance volume or a 6mkry9411 which has a 8cc
bowl volume and gives a 9.7:1 @80cc clearance volume. These pistons come with narrow moly rings and tapered pins and wiegh in at 509grams for the flat top and 488 grams for the dished .They dont have the split in the piston for oil drain they have a cast oil return slot for more strength and also feature a pressure balancing groove for minimum blowby at high rpm. :twisted: They are made from high silicon A504 alloy.They normally go for about $680 NZ DOLLARS RETAIL .Check with some of the guys in Aussie or maybe Someone in the states who deals with Federal Mogul .

That's $400 US dollars. I'd imagine they'll be able to supply a little below list.
 
If you want more compression for cheap and don't want to do a lot of work to do it just use the 2.3L HSC pistons. I used some in my 200 and they are fine. They are exactly like a 200 piston but with a flat top. They are cast pistons though. But they are only like $10 or $11 each! they seem to be kinda strong! :D

Well TT, as you can see, ther are several ways to gain compression on a 200 I6. I'm curious though. What's your compression goal? What's your intended use? That could make a difference on the best way to go about gaining compression.

Here's the magic formula for a Daily driver. Overbore hte block .030", deck the block to zero, install small dish cast replacement pistons, mill the head to achieve 52cc chambers and install with a composite head gasket. That will get you just over 9:1 CR, which is just about right for a daily driver. The zero deck height will improve the quench and improve combustion efficiency. Be sure to read the sticky post at the top of this forum. Or....

If your bottom end is in good shape just get a valve job done which should include a 3 angle valve seat, back cut the intakes (a 4th angle), hardened seats, mill the head .050". You'll be in the same CR place with a lot less money.

Contrary to popular beliefs, a dished piston in a wedge shaped combustion chamber engine will make more HP, all else being equal than either a flat-topped or domed piston.
