I have a Clifford Header on its way, 6 into 2. I plan on running 40 series Flows and side pipes. Anyways, I saw that I could get a good holley 2 barrel carb, a 5200??? something like that. I was thinking about putting down the money for an aussie 2v head, but dont quite have it just yet. Would it be smart to go ahead and get the 2v carb and spacer for now and then maybe look into getting the Aussie head later? Will I have to change the distributor if I have a pertronix etc. I just want to know if it would be worth my time to do this mod or is there maybe another good mod that isnt to bad price wise?? Thanx alot!!!! Also, are there any other good mods I should do to raise the fun factor on my 200????

8) the aussie 2v head is a good mod to make. getting the carb now is also a good idea, as you can use the carb with an adaptor on your six now so it doesnt lay around and do nothing.

I would also say do the 2V carb mod, but don't hold your breath for the head. They are not exactly in abundance right now...

Well, I think I got this dizzy dilemma down via Steve. If you plan to do the 5200 swap, you'll need a 68+ dizzy with mechanical and vacuum advance. The dizzy's rotor drive should be "C" shaped and the Pertronix Ignitor II should fit fine. It fit fine in my "D" shaped out of my 65. Hope this helps.

Well,
looks like Im gonna go for the 2v, prolly the 5200 from stovebolts. I have seen some people say that I have to change out my distributor and others say that I dont. Whats the final decision on this one, lol??? I also was wondering what the best carb would be to get for cheap. I dont like the webbers from Clifford cause they are $400!!!!! I like the looks of the 5200 being more like $65. If I have to change the distributor, or dizzy to some, where is a good place to get one??? Thanx again guys!!!!

Hey 66Sprint6,

The Stovebolt 5200 is a good buy. Many of them in use, no complaints that I am aware of. Also, Tom is excellent at follow-up. Very helpful.

The dizzy. The 5200 will not work with the vacuum only advance dizzy used in most cars through 1967 (the Load-O-Matic). So the change to the 68 - 73 dual advance unit is essentually required. Also, adding the Pertronix Ignitor is recommended. Alternatively, you could use a DSII.

While not required, I assume you are planning to use a port divider with the header. This is easier do with the head off the car so you can weld the divider in place. However, it can be done on the car if you are careful with the filling process. Check prior post on this subject.

Get the carb and get a Duraspark II/ MSD. The electronic ignition will help your car run alot smoother, points suck.

Checkout my website for some fairly inexpensive mods :nox:

I know a guy here in Arizona that may be able to get you an Aussie head.
His name is Mike. Here is his website: http://pages.prodigy.net/winterboer1/index.html

He may be able to help you out. He got me an Aussie head. Keep in mind, if you go with this conversion, you will run into a few things.
1) you will need to get adjustable rockers. I went with adjustable-roller tip rockers for mine.
2) the aussie head rotates your carb 90 degrees. I got the Weber 38 DGAS and as a result it being rotated, I now have to get a new throttle set up.
Trust me, it is well worth a little hastle and the folks at this website are nice and can give you all sorts of information and help.

Hope this helps.

Thanx again guys for all the help and inspiration. I have sooo much to do and soo little money, lol. I would like to get the carb and distributor done this summer, but I still have alot of suspension etc. work to do. I do have a port divider and will get it welded in hopefully. I know alot of you are running the 5200 or similar carb on the log intake and headers, what power increases did you find, noticeable power increases?? I would really like to know because my main goal is to make my car more fun to drive.

come on boys, dont be pussys. i have a 600dp holley on my 2v. i admit it loves fuel but holy shit it goes. i use to have a 465vac sec holley, it went well but i got sick of playing with the different springs for the secondarys.
(plenty more fuel in the world)..

Well,
After hastling "Larry" at Clifford performance with a million emails about why my headers werent sent to me after many months of waiting and nothing, it seems that they should be here in the next, and I quote, "3 or 4 days" I am hoping he is telling the truth this time. Anyways, I think Im gonna go ahead and go with the 5200 carb and while the head is off to put in the port divider, I think Im gonna get it worked over, valve job etc. My friend recently blew his motor in his 67 stang and put a 200 out of a 70's comet or somethin, I dunno, but Im gonna try and swipe the old distributor from it, he didnt use it. I hear that I have to ditch the pertronix from my 66 distributor and get one for the newer one, is that true or will mine fit. Also, does anyone have any suggestions about what I should get done to the intake/cylinder heads while its off to optimize the "fun factor" and get the most out of it. I know a few things, but hearing it from you guys gives me more assurance, lol. Thanx again guys!!!!!
