HEY GUYS; I M HAVING A PROBELM I DONT HAVE ANY SPARK.MY CAR WAS RUNNING FINE I HAVE A NEW FLAMETHROWER COIL AND PETRONIX IN MY 250CID COMET 73,UNTIL I TRYED TO HOOK UP ALT GAUGE BUT I BELIEVE I BURNED SOMETHING OUT BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS.I WASNT SURE IF I BURNED THE PETRONIX OR NOT SO I HAVE PUT ORIGINAL GOOD COIL IN AND THE OLD POINTS AND SET THEM, THEY BOTH WORKED FINE BEFORE PETRONIX.WHATS HAPPENING NOW IS IT TURNS OVER AND WITH ONE PLUG REMOVED AND GROUNDED THERE ISN T ANY SPARK.I HAVE CHECKED THE COIL AT POSITIVE WHILE CRANKING AND I GET 7.5VOLTS ONLY, I THINK IT SHOUD BE 12 V.I CHECKED THE FUSE BOX AND THEY ARE OK AND I M GETTING GAS.DOES ANYONE HAVE IDEA WHERE I SHOULD LOOK.

Last time I had fogotten to put the rotor back under the distributor cap. Make sure your wire lead from the points to the (-) side of coil is not grounding out on the dizzy itself, this also happened to me. It is real easy to do this when you are tightening the leads to the points (one from (-) side coil and one from the condenser in dizzy). Good luck.

THANKS FOR THE IDEA, BUT I FOUND THAT MY PETRONIX UNIT WAS PROBADLY FRIED,CAUSE I DID MANAGE TO START UP WITH THE OLD POINTS.THERE GOES 50 BUCKS ,I WONT PLAY WITH THAT AGAIN.

Sorry about the Pertronix. That's a fairly familiar story around here now. The few people who've run them without a hitch must be feeling lucky these days!

The Duraspark II conversion is well regarded, and written up here, as a "Sticky". If you want to try it, a lot of people will be able to share their experiences.

Regards, Adam.
