Offy 3X1 adapters ?

'wondering why the Offy 3X1 uses an O-Ring on outer ports with Milled-Log manifold?, why not simple composite gaskets?.

Doesn't a composite gasket need to be milled perfectly flat? And not have any warping of the intake as it's running?

I would think that an O-ring would wind up being easier to seal if you had imperfections, or one end not milled as the other.
I haven't ever put my hands on an Offy setup, but judging by the pics, it looks like the only structurally strong piece is the carb mounting bracket, the rest looks like it's built for a little flex?

X2 O Ring would be a very good seal. I don't think that type needed to have any milling done on the log just a hole drilled for the carb base. There were some for Round log heads that also used a couple U bolts to hold them down.

Yup, just to allow for deformations in the log casting. I only blew out an O ring on my offy once due to a really poorly set up initial tune and a really bad back fire (as in all 3 carbs fired up).
