offy n webers with a solenoi

8) if you are talking about the holley/weber 5200 carb, the solenoid is for kicking up the idle speed when you turn the ac on.

He's talking about the Weber 1 bbl. (34 ICH). Someone on this board that used to work for Clifford said they used to put brass plugs in place of the solenoid. But, Colorado66 (I think) is the one on this board that has hooked the solenoid up. I, too, have that pic. saved!

The solenoid is a fuel cut off for the idle jet. You run 12v switched power to it and when you turn the engine off it kills the fuel supply to the idle circuit to prevent dieseling. You just remove it and replace it with the large style fixed jet holder and you are good. You can also use it to its design purpose. My 200 has a lot of inital timing (18)deg on the pulley) and diesels on a really hot So Cal day so I kept it and it works great.

Todd,

I have three webers and they all came with those things. So I will at least have to plug the outer ones. What exactly is a "large style fixed jet holder" and where do I get one? Do I leave in the jet that is in there?

Anyone know where I could buy this,,,I have the 5200.

Thanks

We stock the jet holders in both the large and small sizes. the 200s should use a 55-65 idle jet or so. The jet is specific to the holder size. You can use the jet from the solenoid as you can pull it off and install it on the jet holder.

I used to work at Clifford's and did not say just put a brass plug in there. When I was there we used to take the solenoid off and replace it with the jet holder. You take the jet out of the solinoid and put it in the holder. That is what we used to do and never had any problems.

Actually, you did. Just to clarify where I got that from:

When I was there we had this all figured out. I guess they forgot or do not know. They, Clifford, are supposed to take the solenoids off and put in a brass "plug" on all of the Carbs. This is do to the fact that one you will not use the solenoids and two, they get in the way of the linkage.

Sorry if I misunderstood what you meant by "plug."

Falcon 64 thanks for showing me the error in my ways----------- hahahah

I have not been into the Clifford stuff and all the inline 6 stufff for over a year now so some of it may not translate as well as I want to......

We is Todd's Automotive. We make and distribute power brake booster conversions, disc brake conversions, Build hi po six crate motors, Weber two barrel conversions and we sell and distribute brake, suspension, and engine parts on the wholesale end.

Todd,

Can you tell me someone that sells the parts retail, or a part number for the idle jet holders for 34 ich webers?

We can sell you them wholesale. I just need to know your jet size. I will be in L.A. tomorrow and can deliver if ness.

I am glad you guys like my set up. I have found theat my car does not diseil at all. I got rid of the Porsche so the 66 is now my main weekend crusier again. I get a big smile every time I drive it still, I love the additional power.

Ron, how did the move go?

Colorado66 (and whoever else has the Weber 1 barrels),

Did these carbs required any rejetting? Were you able to just bolt them on and tune?

I was abale to bolt mine on and tune. Remeber I am at 5000 feet as well, so I am not sure if that made any difference.
