CRAP. i pulled the old radiator out tonight to put in my new 3-row replacement (that by the way leaves NO room for a fan of ANY kind, but thats another story  ) and the antifreeze (50/50 pre-diluted stuff) felt quite oily to me. Is that stuff oily to begin with or am I feeling oil in my coolant? This was the first batch of coolant run since the rebuild <100 miles on the motor. What can cause this?

Start firing suggestions, fixes, etc. please.

I probably wouldn't worry too much about it. Normal coolant feels a bit slippery, it has a water pump lubricant in it. Run it for a while and see if it uses any coolant.

Yup, glycol is slimey stuff. If you see discoloration of the coolant (brown streaks) or find a white, slimey foam in your oil, or on the bottom of your oil filler cap, then you may have a problem.

Well glycol feels very "wet/slippery" when you pulled the radiater cap did you see a rainbow on top of the coolant? that is what you need to watch for for a small leak if it is a big leak you will know it.
