I have an oil pressure gauge and all the fittings but have been hesistant about installing it. Can I substitute another fluid in the hose so that I dont have hot oil in the car??

Oh, and I have still having noise problems and when I get home today I will record a sample and see if I can get it on here but I do not know how to get a sound clip on the forum can someone tell me how please???

please

SIR, ANOTHER FLUID CANNOT BE USED.
AN OTHER TYPE OF GUAGE SUCH AS A FULL ELECTRIC CAN BE PURCHASED THROUGH SUMMIT OR JEGS. THIS WOULD HAVE A SENDING UNIT AT THE OIL PRESSURE PORT ON THE BLOCK,THEN RUN A WIRE TO THE GUAGE IN THE VEHICLE. GOOD LUCK. WILLIAM :D :D

Oil pressure lines, when properly installed, are completly safe.

You can use a copper line in place of the plastic, or buy an oil press gauge that has an elctronic seder at the eng.

Autometer used to sell a isolater for fuel pressure gagues. The ones I saw were only for 30psi max, but this was back in 1989 I think. It was a clever part with a diaphram in the middle. Their Instructions were If I remember right was to use coolant as the fluid inside the car. With most cars going to fuel injection they might have one that goes much higher now.
The oil inside the car is not hot because it is not flowing anywhere.

I installed an oil pressure guage in my '63 Wagon as I do in all my vehicles to use as diagnostic. It's common to see the temp guage rise slightly on a long hill as the oil pressure decreases slightly. It is a great indicator of the vital signs of your engine. I had to replace the radio last year (@ $40 e-bay)) and in the process somehow pulled the oil line off the back of the guage while underneath dash. When I got in to drive to work later,(in my "good" clothes of course), I felt something weird on my shoe and leg and found oil pouring onto them . I re-attached the line, changed my pants and shoes and never admitted it til now!.
