hey all..me again. I'll be needing to add A/C to my '63 Futura Convertible w/170 (i'm in South Florida...it was 88 deg. here yesterday and it's only MARCH!).

Was A/C an option on this car/motor? Is it the same as the Mustang underdash unit? I used a HotRod Air system on my 64 F100 resto. and was OK. Had to do some creative work to mount it to the motor. Are A/C brackets, etc available for the 170/200? I'd like to use an original evap unit for the look, and just get newer under-hood stuff (condensor, drier, compressor, etc).

Any leads? Does anyone have any photos of A/C on this 6?

Thanks again!

8) hey DT, the mustang and falcon systems are very similar, the differences being mostly cosmetic. check out vintage air, they have several systems that fit you car, they even have compressor brackets for the six. i would recomend, assuming you are not going for an totaly original look, using their behind the dash system, and the sanden compressor for the best look and most efficient system.

I'm actually on Vintage Air's site now. Their mustang unit's don't really look like the images of the originals that I've seen. I guess that I could get an original evaporator if one shows up on eBay and just use new compressor and stuff, right?

I rebuilt my AC system with a new drier, new custom length hoses that can be routed along the inner fenders insted of flopping over the top of the motor, a new york compressor-never run, original brackets, rebuilt under-dash unit inside and out, re-built compressor clutch, all small brakets painted.

All that isn't perfect is the chrome cover on the front of the unit- it didn't warrant re-chroming so I just polished it but there are some very, very small pits. And the evaporator that goes in front of the raditor has not been reconditioned - it looked good in place but when I pulled it out I noticed some of the fins are loose so before it goes back in I would get it fixed

Anyway, After all of this I hot rodded my motor to the point that A/C seemed a bit out of place so I just left it all in the boxes. I would rather sell it here than on e-bay if you are interested.

I'll take it!

You say you have the brackets for the 170/200 motor (with powersteering)?

E-mail me with details, whatyou want for it, and photos if you can PLEASE!
