The 215 out of my '53 F100 is presently getting bored over and cleaned up. We've found replacement pistons at egge's. Anybody know of any other good part sources for internals? Particularly, the cam is a bit rough and I need a new one. Also, does anyone know how thick the deck is on this block? I'd like to raise the compression but don't know how much I dare shave it.

Re:shaving the 223 head- I shaved .020 off of mine, and have had no problems. I have read of others taking as much as .080 off, but can't rec' that as I haven't tried it. (I had the '55 6.5 to 1 head, and probably could have taken the .080 off without too much pinging on regular. The octane of regular in the '50's was pretty low- 65-70 I believe.
For the cam, send it to Isky and have them regrind it, or Clifford's and they'll send it to Howard's cams (I believe that is who they use), as far as other internals go Egge's is a good source. Pick up a Hemmings Motor News and peruse the ads for others.

On the odd chance you haven't already found a cam source I'd humbly suggest Berry Cam in Lester Prarie, Minnesota. They've been in the business since the late 1950's, are good people and their work is moderately priced. Don't have a phone number at my finger tips at the moment. You'll have to call information. Lester Prarie is about 15 miles West of Minneapolis.

They re-ground my 300 cam & resurfaced my lifters for less than half the cost of a new performance cam.

I guess it's ok to pass information like this along on the forum isn't it?

I have some questions below, that I would like to ask before I lay down some good hard green, for having my regrind the cam on my 215. Any commits would be helpful.

What cam would company would be the best cam Barry or Isky? To have them regrind it, and has any one had this done by them? What was their turn around time?

Also does both of these company's Barry or Isky, make any custome cam's besides Cifford? What are some of these goning for online, or in shops?

Thank you for your time,
