pistons

First, you need to see if the block needs to be bored. While the machine shop is checking this, they can also evaluate your pistons. If it needs to be bored then new pistons are required. If it is a stock re-build, then the new cast pistons are very reasonable. Good luck.

pistons require a certain amount of clearance between the cylinder wall and the skirt.

You need to measure the cylinder bore for wear or have a shop do it and see if it needs bored and if it needs bored it needs honed.

So if the cylinder does not have a ridge at the top and the bore is within specs you can hone the cylinders and reuse pistons.

You will more than likely need new piston pins and rings.

Most of our inline motors are old and tired and its common for them to need bored and honed and need new pistons. pins, and rings.

well being that rust has accumilated on the piston walls one would assume that it would more than likely need it
