My name is sean hughes i recently managed to get ahold of my favorite car scince the age of 8: my grandmothers 82 cougar

now after driving it once my freinds decided to name it the gutless wonder

i have been reserching the inline 6 engine to give my cat some power
unfortunaly i've hit a fairly major snag, i am in school at carleton university (ottawa) my car is at home in vancouver i asked my father if he could go down and tell me what model of engine is under the hood. apperantly i did not get my obbsession with cars from him as could he could not tell me

what i have managed to figure out is that the engine is a 3.3L 200cid inline6 now is that a 140? a 250? or am i in the wrong forum compleatly
also if anyone drives a older cat it would be great to hear from u
thank you for your help and putting up with my poor punctuation and spelling.

A 3.3 200CI is just that.....A 200 ford inline 6-cylinder. You would not have available a 144, or a 170 in a cugar. I am not sure about the 250 though.

Liters and CID both tell you the same thing - engine displacement. the only difference is one is metric and one is not. The 3.3l inline six is the metric equivalent displacement of 200 cubic inches just like Troy said. 8)

8) you have one of the last 200's made. in fact 83 was the last year for the small inline six in fords line of engines.

You are in the right forum. There are plenty of mods you can do to make your Cougar faster. For example:

I have installed a dual exhaust sytem with a dual out header from FSPP and Borla ProXS mufflers. If you install a header, you have to install a port divider. I am going to upgrade the carburetor soon to a 2bbl. If you read the posts on this forum, you will learn quickly.
