I am up to my ears in contract closeouts so I haven't had time to pursue this yet, but:
I often spec aluminum "Ship's Ladders" for use in accessing mechanical mezzanines and other interstitial spaces in the buildings we design.
On an inspection a couple of days ago, I was climbing one of these ladders, and it hit me: The handrail is aluminum, has smooth 180* bends, and was around 1.5" o.d.--DUH.
There are several manufacturers of Ships Ladders, and if anybody has some connections within those companies, they may be a source of custom IR manifold runners.
It's worth a shot, anyway. Gee, I guess one of my synapses is still functional (pleeze pleeze pleeze
)
