Hi all, I have a slight leak, see picture. I was told by a mechanic I needed to replace the power steering altogether... He quoted a rediculous price, so a friend from one of the shows spent an hour looking at the power steering and found a slight build up of oil, greece (see picture) I'm new to engines so please excuse my ignorance of what is what. Its coming from under the black rubber thing!!!
Sorry about my non technical description but the image should help.
Thanks

That piece with the nut on it is the ball stud attached to your power steering control valve. It's got grease inside the rubbber jacket, and shpould be a tight fit (no slop). The crooked part is your Pitman Arm atached to the steering box. Concertina bellows to the right in your photo are over the hydraulic ram of you power steering. You PAS will leak from either the ram (probably more common) or the pump. A leaky hose can be easily replaced...

Cheers, Adam.

Even new these systems tend to drip, there are so many places for fluid to escape. The ball stud you point can be rebuilt with parts that are readily available and that may help, but 100% elimination of all drips is nearly impossible.
