I'm putting together a motor that's just back from the machine shop. The heads were milled, and it appears they were milled before. If my measurements are correct, they've been milled about .075. At what point do I need to go with a shorter pushrod? Does anyone know how much a lifter should collapse when the non-adjustable rocker is tightened? I put a .060 shorter pushrod in and the lifter collapses about .050.

Working from memory (dangerous, as the old joke has it), the maximum preload suggested for a lifter is about 1/16", or 62½ thou. You're close. If the lifter is fully extended to begin with when measuring, you should be OK.
