Rear main bearings

Good evening, finally at the point to start building my 300. Was looking at the main caps today and all of them look good except for the rear. It doesn't sit flush like the others. It seems to be inserted as far as it will go. When I place the cap on the bearings are not flush like the others. Is this something that would clear itself torqued down or is there another issue?

Pics are attached

Thanks

That is not the rear main bearing.
It is the fifth main thrust bearing and it looks like it is now spread and damaged.

I've seen a lot of people build a Ford V8 for the first time and do the same thing. It's very common.

What did you decide on for pistons and camshaft?

I already ordered new bearings will be here this week. That was screwup #1..... The block had to be bored 030 over to clean it up.. The pistons are Speedpro H519P - 030. Will just be a mild cam for now. Will hop it up later. My first engine build so keeping it simple for now. Plus the car will only weigh about 1500 pds.
