Reconditioning rocker arm assembly

After disassembling the whole assembly I was wondering if I can buy the plugs and pins for each end? I used 400 grit sandpaper to clean the varnish of the rod. I am soaking all the small parts in auto parts cleaner. I have the following years of assemblies, 61,67,69,73,79 & 81. I can't see any differences in them other then the 61 is adjustable arms. Am I missing something. Any other suggestions? Thanks and happy Father's day to all the other dads out there.

I would think you can buy some new soft plugs to fit the ends and also the pins. The rocker shaft is availed new if yours have too much wear in them.

Well I guess I should ask what is too much wear? Bubba is your e mail still the same as when you were in beautiful So Cal? I could send you a picture but I am not sure you could tell by them anyways.

If the wear is enough you might be able to see or feel it. Better still is if you have or can barrow a micrometer to measure and compare the area were the rocker rides too another part of the shaft were there is no movement this measurement would be the shafts original size. Loose rockers will have a clicking nose in operation. Yep it's still the same email.

Where the towers are (stationary) 25/32" and where the arms are (back and forth motion) some read 25/32" and some 99/128". I don't have a quality micrometer. But it could be about a 1/128" wear. The wear of the rocker arms is visibly noticeable on one side of rod.

if you can feel an edge where the rocker arm rides, compared to where there is no wear on the shaft, then the shaft is worn and should be replaced. run your fingernail from the wear point to the non wear point. and edge means too much wear.
