Beste mede-autoliefhebber,

Levertijd in
overleg.

and now in english: i did thought i have a 78 engine with a D8 code on it , he told me i got a 80/83 engine [ strange ? i did put on the bell from my orginal 66 engine ? it fit ! ]
/ pistons and cam and krukas , only in the new block , wil cost 1050 with core from the old block and ofcourse tax on the 1050 is 20 %
this al is a price without a head !!! i did want to buy a 250 2V aussie head
now i realy considdering to get a 250 crossflow from addo. my engine rebuild include all the new parts and 2V head ore getting a 250 crossflow rebuild from addo , not too much differend in money ! i must give this a thought !realy would drive a crossflow , would be the first 1 in holland !!!!

You pay your monies, and take your choice!

I'd go cross-flow myself, but it all comes down to what your needs are. If fuel consumption is an issue, stick with the 200 cubic inch engine. The 25% percent extra capacity and increased volumetric efficiency of a 4.1 cross-flow will have a profound affect on the performance, and a big one on ecconomy. You really have no idea what six cylinder torque is like, as the best European engines are design for revs, not torque. You'll never have to change gear agin with it! It makes a 3 liter Opel engine seam entierly guttless. From 750 rpm, the 4.1 produces more torque than an Opel GSE 3.0 does at 4000 rpm! Even at 4000 rpm, there is more torque than the best Opel. It's like a steam engine! Can your drive train hack it?

The 4.1 will need V8 spec brakes, diff, transmission and is about the same weight as a 5.0 HO V8 with a carb, and the engine is 26 kilos heavier with a nice EFI system. That's 241 kg's verses something like 180 kgs or less with your D8 block.

Well, as I showed, the crossflow swap can burn some money! But I tried to cover the dearest and the cheapest options with my examples.

If you can share the freight with our friend Lowrider, that's another saving. There are a few ways to economise. At least we can all be 100% confident that if you choose the crossflow option, you will make it work well.

The price quoted is not cheap, but close to what it would cost here. The main advantage of importing a motor would be getting one with more performance.

Adam.
