runinng vacuum advance/retard specs

Howdy Everybody,
Since I have the adv/retrd diaphram, should I run the adv. line to the manifold side/source and then the retrd from the port side of the carb? Seem would give adv. at idle and no boost, then switching sides as the rpms and boost go up giving a retrd. to timing at upper rpms.
Plus what should be the total adv. on a boosted 200, no more than 28 degrees @ 3000rpms? Thank you for any responses.
