Silicon Rubber Intake Manifold

Can a log intake be sawed off, then machined crudely to accept silicon rubber hose?

I'm leaning towards a turbo 200 project. This is likely the first of many questions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Basically, all the work on Falcons has been welding and cutting. No silcone. But its been done for years, and its only now that Americans are discovering there Hi Po Henry Heritage. Welding a plate isn't so dificult, but if you want the exhast to function, you must leave a portion of the log intake intact.

Since is just cast iron, yes it can. You just :-

a) saw and replace it with eiter a direct mount steel or cast iron plate like the Aussie Blattman conversion of circa 1966

(link no longer working sorry)

b) cut the whole thing back to the frost plugs in the head, and then machine up some dowels to hold the carbs, or profile cut some Hilborn or Weber style tubes to suit. (circa 1962)

c) There are some other pictures on the Aussie Falcon website, but I've lost the link http://xpfalcon.kicks-ass.net/Engines/Original Six.htm
