Single webber 34?

I have a 61 falcon with a 170 (66k miles). It has a manual choke holley 1904 1bbl on it. The bowl and flange are warped and do not seal for long. I have a buddy with a 34 ICH for a price of $0. This thing is not a hot rod and I just tool around in it to work. Will the webber carb choke it down bad or will it run about the same as the holley (after jetting properly of course)? Linkage and what not are not an issue.

Howdy Ski:

While the ICH weber carbs have a great rep, know that you engine's distributor will not be compatible with the carb. You stock carb and distributor are linked be a Spark Control Valve (SCV) on the carb, which sends a load sensitive vacuum signal to the Load-O-Matic (LoM) distributor. While you could crutch the carb into service by blocking the related ports and running alot more initial advance it would not be ideal. The weber carb has some value. I'd take it and offer it for sale and use the proceeds to purchase another Holley 1904 to rebuild and install. That's my two cents, for what it's worth.

Adios, David
