FYI: I just received the January 05 issue of AutoRestorer. This issue contains the first of a four-part series on power upgrades for American vintage six cylinder engines. The have some good comments on the ford six, notably the 300.

Can you pick up auto restorer at your local book store or do you have to subscribe?? I'd like to take a look at those articles!!

Later,

Doug

I get it by subscription. I have not seen it on-the-rack. It is a small magazine printed on plain paper with few to no ads. It has tremendous detail and subscribers offer great tips and advice. It is more like a published forum then a commercial magazine. By the way, they also started a series on restoring a 60 California Special Mustang in the same issue.

Kind to think of it, a 300 would make for a killer hot rod. A lot of displacement in a nice long narrow footprint.

yeah, but it sound like a truck under the hood. of course, from the rear with a good exhaust it would be fine!

The 240 was the 300's beginning and it was used in midsize and full size cars in the 60s if I remember right so th eaudience for them is not Falcon and mustangs but trucks and other cars of the 60s.

Besides, if you bore it out you could use those 5.0 badges

But seriously, for some of the heavier sedans, the torque of a 300 would be extremely useful. Now imagine one bored and stroked, turbo'd, intercooled and fuel injected...

Wonder if the 348" would make a comeback with the new head allowing it to breath?Better yet a 320" like a well known comp racer has used turboed with FI.The 320" might have a better rod ratio than 348" :?: :?: :?:

Has any one been able to scan those articles and upload them to here?Im working on finding as many 6 articles as I can and will be uploading them to a post named Six in the magazines.
