HELLO

I'm a newbie to the fordsix forum, have a 1965 Mustang conv., with a 200 inline six. I recently had a reman motor installed , it runs really great, 260 delta cam ,headers ,port divider, duel flomasters ,tripower. I was thinking about retourqing the headbolts, same prob reweb is having. I was going to get a set of chev Headbolt washers, would there be a prob removing one bolt at a time and and then retourqing. Also would you start at #1 Or #14? Thanks for any advice.

I would suggest getting the excellent Ford Falcon 6 Cylinder Performance Handbook. It will answer you questions and many more a cost a tiny fraction of your first mistake.

8) as long as you do not remove the head, there should be no problem with removing one bolt at a time and reinstalling it with a new washer. start at #1 and follow the factory torque sequence. also when you reinstall each bolt, DO NOT torque all the way down. put each bolt in snugly, then move onto the next bolt in order. when you have finished adding the new washers, you can now start retorqueing the head. do this is a three step process, step one being 30ft/lbs, step two being 60ft/lbs, and step three being the final torque rating.
