Stupid question: bolt size for these shock tower caps!

OK, I've tried every bolt size and thread I can dig up in my garage an nothing fits! These are after market chrome shock tower caps for a 65 Mustang. Can someone tell me please what size/thread bolts mount the top bar of the shock to the tower cap (the two hole on top of the cap). I can start threading a bolt in, but then it hangs...worried about cross threading and ruining these..at $35/ea....

Dunno about the aftermarket chrome, but original bolt is a 5/16" - 18

Maybe they chromed the threads???

I think the repros are UNC, not UNF.

Made in China, no doubt.... I remember I got some Spectre brand carb studs that came with nuts, of course the threads on the studs were SAE, but the nut hex size was 12mm, not 7/16", not 1/2" but 12mm!
