Hey,

Gotta say a big thank you tp all those who have gone before and installed a Duraspark in their IL6 motors and then documented the procedure. I am just finishing up on mine and was pleased with how easily it went together.
If I knew how to post photos on this site, I would love to show my set up and maybe help someone else along.
Great forum!!

Thanks,

CrashBob

Yes and I'm afraid I'm not quite computer literate enough to understand how to get my pictures from my computer to the internet as required.
If someone could take me by the hand and lead me, I'm not stupid, just inexperienced.

Hey,
I think i figured out this photo posting thing. (in a round about way)

This is the heat sink I made from some square aluminum tubing for the module.

The coil and relay mounted on a modified electrical box

The parts mounted on the apron. I don't have pix of the dizzy in at this point. If anybody is interested, I can post them when I get it all done.
Also thinking about fabbing up a nice cover for the components and suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you post a diagram of the wiring that you used with the HEI module and coil?...or maybe close up pictures of the coil/module.

:) Hi CrashBob.I don`t think that an enclosure would be a good idea. You want plenty of air circulation around the components for good cooling.

Crash Bob and all, hear ye hear ye!!

Many thanks to the members here who also helped me with my DSII install.

The one thing that did NOT go smoothly was that the DSII did not slip right into the hole in the earlier block. But thanks to the sticky, I knew that I might have to get the emory cloth out. Little details like that can make or break a project.

Hey Leo,

Ya know, I considered that too and thought maybe a louvered panel or a dense black screen in fairly large cutouts would work. I'm just not real happy with the look of all the wiring. I know there are wiring management systems available so I will definitely consider air flow.
Right now, I'm just tickled to death about the performance results achieved from the new ignition system.
I did a similar thing (HEI) in my '67 Chevy pick-em-up and was impressed
with the results and now the Mustang. Gotta love the electronics!
I am open for any suggestions as how to de-uglify the set up.

Thanks man,

Craig

dbowman,
If you would PM me with your email address, I could send you some close ups and diagrams of my set up. I'm finding it's not real easy to post pics on this site without a photobucket account or similar website.
Bear with me on the diagrams as I don't have a lot of time today, but I will "Git 'er Done" soon.

Amen to that!!

:D Hi CrashBob.Within reason the more airflow around electronics the better.Just like with automatic trannys, the worst enemy is HEAT.
