So, I go away and I come back and things are going full steam ahead. Looks like after a few good opportunities I am finally installing the T-5 as well as rebuilding the suspension, installing the 8inch rear and maybe even tackling the disc brake issue.

Crazy stuff eh?

Anyone in Houston wanna lend a hand?! I am always looking for someone with a bit more experience in suspension.

Take care everyone! I will be sure to take photos and keep you updated.

If you bring it over here, I'll help!

You sure have been a while coming back.

I have been hiding at work. Been trying to get out of debt a bit and all that junk.

Fiance really wants to get the car on the road, so we are going to tackle the safety stuff first before modifying. Time to take care of the brakes and suspension.

Looking forward to finding a block to rebuild with one of these new heads I keep reading about.

Cheers,

Jason

Me too, ludwig. How's it working out for you? After several hundred miles, I found that my rear brake shoes were wearing rapidly (could be I didn't have the proportioning valve adjusted properly). I also had a lot of trouble getting the master cylinder/booster to mount properly. Had to mount the angle brackets backwards from what the instructions said; otherwise they didn't fit the studs on the booster. Made it VERY difficult to get to the nuts to tighten them up. Also had to use spacers (washers) between the booster and the firewall because the actuator rod seemed too long--when mounted w/o the spacers, the piston was partly activated causing the brake lights to be on all the time. The caliper casting had some rough spots at the banjo bolt seal, causing it to leak until I tightened it way more than I should have needed to. And finally, the passenger side caliper wobbles a bit on the slides.

I've got the car in the garage for the winter to overhaul lots of stuff, including the brakes. I may find some things I did wrong, but it can't all be me. In general I'm somewhat disappointed with the kit, especially at that price.

You go guy!! The actuator rod was too short on mine: the pedal flopped for half the travel. Had them FedEx an adjustable rod with threaded shaft. At FULL extension it was the SAME LENGTH as the original. Caramba!!! I made an extender with all-thread rod. MC, calipers, slave cylinders ALL hard to bleed. Had Midas to the work with a power bleeder.
After installation, one side chuffed on the inside of the stock rim. I ground the offending member down with a wheel and drill motor for a partial solution. Then, with a hammer, I beat down the part of the rim that dragged and no more chuff.
Now it stops JUST AS WELL as it did before all that work and money.

(fans lips with fingers up and down) BLLLLLLLL.
