Thread Strength, Stainless Nyloc Nuts?

How weak are they? For an interim period at least, I would like to run stainless nyloc nuts and flat washers on my shackles. They will have to come on and off a few times as the springs get fooled with. Thread engagement will be 100%.

I know the stainless bolts are definitely low tensile, but where am I in terms of catastrophic failure of the nut? Any and all thoughts welcome!

130, 000 psi vs
170, 000 psi for Grade 8.8's,
and 190, 000 psi for 12.9's

The Stainless steel ones will handle less load, proportional to those pressures. If its well lubricated, and torqued correctly, it shouldn't be a problem.
 
The shackle bolt was probably sized for either the shear forces or the bearing area, not axial loading. If you looked closely at the loading on the shackle bolt, it is not exerting much axial force onthe bolt, and therefore, the stainless NUT would not be an issue. A stainless bolt, on the other hand may cause a problem.
 
using a stainless nut on a steel bolt is useless
stainless steel "rusts", in lack of a better word, to regular steel worse than steel does to steel. so you might as well just use a regular nut unless you use a stainless bolt with the stainless nut
 
It won't really get a chance to rust. Also, the shackle is yellow zinc-ed. If I use a regular Grade 8 nut or Nyloc, I'll feel compelled to brush-touch the flats every time I take it on or off. With stainless and a flatwasher, this can wait 'til I'm done fiddling (as if that ever occurs!)...
