All Small Six Throttle Return Spring with Throttle Stabilizer

This relates to all small sixes
I'm wondering - if you're not completely stuck on being original, could you make a tab with 2 holes that attaches under one of the exhaust manifold bolts and accepts the spring in the free hole? Sorta like the photo below but more towards the front of the manifold (this is how my 250 came to me, I was told it's from a 73 Maverick).

I thought it would B wrded “If U R stuck on being completely original..."
in either case: pretty well done (not entirely) here (now).

Just to close this thread out, I did get the OEM replacement spring "kit" off of eBay. The original spring was canceled by Ford after only a short time, replaced with a compatible, though shorter, spring and extensions kit. This OEM replacement spring itself has a few less turns than the original stock. As strange as it looks, if you have the "throttle stabilizer" linkage, the return[retract] spring really is supposed to run to the end of the intake manifold.

Yes, it takes me more effort’n time to post than you’d believe
near 30 posts’n 2 pages of assistance = “a pic ‘d be nice."

Not sure what about this thread could possibly make me feel guilty, but just for fun I'll post a picture of it:

John Ha: I'm not really interested in originality; just trying to make my Comet work well and be reliable.

Yeah, the original was a single, long spring. The kit actually came with two of the extensions, of the same length. Must have been intended for several different configurations because, obviously, if you hook up both extensions on this setup the spring would be just dangling there. Seems pretty good with one extension.

"of same length"...? weird,
may B frnt’n back, may B to
use elsewhere? Just dont no...
Now? extra pleased (& perplexed)
I asked for a pic. Causes me to think-
should I keep my mouth closed? “Yes"
