is anyone running a heavier than stock spring . I'm looking for one that will fit over the valve step like the stock ones do .Basicly the same size as stock only a heavier spring .

im using 302 exhaust valve springs (i think 1973-78 ). they fit just like the stock springs, but theyre stiffer. mike said they would work with the 264/274 cam i have.

they have to be the exhaust ? Did you use the stock retainers ?

yes they have to be exhaust, the intake springs will not work. i used stock retainers. you can use 260 v8 retainers, but theyre hard to find, or you can use retainers from some ford v6 (i forget which one). theyre both one piece retainers and are lighter than stock retainers. you should buy the falcon performance handbook, it has all this information.

some aftermarket springs do NOT fit neither stock 200 2-piece nor 4.0 V6 1-piece retainers. If you want to use those, either get the right retainers (dunno which ones) or have your existing ones machined.

the stock replacement 302 springs is got (sealed power) fit with my stock 200 retainers.

if your going to pay for aftermarket springs you might as well go to classicinlines and buy the aftermarket springs/retainers from there.
