My rochester 2 jet was 30 years old but still new when i put it on my 200. The car runs good but a vac leak at the carb every once in a while because i had to improvise on the adaptor which didnt fit the 2 jet very well. So I found this on ebay. Tell me what ya think. It also comes with the adaptor for the log as with the electric choke. Turns out he went with the 302.

I think you got rooked big time. Send it to me as soon as possible and I will destroy the evidence. No one needs to know.

thanks for the support it helps justifying it my carb needing new gaskets was barely cutting it i'll try to post pics once its all done speaking of which how does one post pics.

Daniel, What adaptor are you using for the 2 jet? I have a carb like that and was thinking about trying it on my 250 when it gets built. Also, what did you mean by "it didn't fit very well"? I don't want to buy one if it's going to give me problems.
Thanks,
Mike

Stovebolt and Clifford make a 2V to 1 adaptor. Some of the guys here mill the carb mounting surface on the log and make their own 2 hole adaptor from a billet of aluminum or steel, which they bolt to the now flat log head surface.

i bought the transdapt 2025 from summit and it says for rochester 2gc or 2gv i have a 2jet which is the same carb except for the throttle bores the 2 jet was made for bigger motors while the others werent so when i got the adaptor i had to hog out the hole on the inside of the adaptor to let the blades open also the 2 jet has a little wider base so i used a rubbetr spacer and gasket to stop vac leaks. the carb has run great for me but the 2 jet i feel is a little much for the 200 seeing as it was for a 400 bb also my carb leaks gas even though its new but its 30 years old. i thought of trying a holley adaptor but i'm not sure how i could redrill the hole because it uses a small pattern. i think i can get a little more power out of the 2300 because its slightly smaller and wont be dumping so much fuel in the motor when i dig in. a 2gv or 2gc would probably be better.

Ok, thanks. Actually I was wrong about my Rochester. It is actually the 2GC which came off of an old 283 Chevy I had. Great carb, that old 283 ran really good! Sounds like the 2025 adapter would be just what I will need.
Thanks again,
Mike

Ive thought it over and figured while I have everything off with the carb swap and all I think I may do the valve job on the head. So I was looking at classic inlines and I wanted the most flow possible so the 1.86 intake and 1.56 exhaust is what I want to go with. I haveent gotten any machining quotes yet but what is a ball park figure you guys have been paying for the valve work including 3 angle job and maybe a port polish. On the classicinlines site it says to be carefuel when installing the larger valves why is that is clearance a problem I would be using the stock spring rockers and cam.

Daniel,

At present I would urge holding off on your head work (other than getting the carb to run nicely). The new heads should mean there's a supply of decently worked-over log heads available when people trade up. Not that i'm being a vulture or anything!

One of the common threads in people experiencing tuning issues is trying too much all at once. I'll be frank and say we have had a couple high-profile "failures" that did (IMO) affect the reputation of the site and products offered. Consider how far you've come in knowledge and understanding; better to put some of that into practice now and finetune things. Once a success is proven and gains consolidated, move onto the next logical step.

Regards, Adam.

I got the carb a couple days ago and it really is brand new. I wanted to use mechanical linkage so i couldnt mount the adaptor like it normally is for cable with a 45 degree angle. So to mount it on a 90 I went to mustang geezers website http://inlinefever.homestead.com/RamAir.html and copied his adaptor I went and got .5 aluminum plate and countersunk the holes for the head then next to them i tapped studs for the summit adaptor so it would mount on a 90 bolted everything up and thats it I then copied geezers linkage to the T because it was simple with only hardware store parts, took only minimal time and was easier because i have a kickdown for the c4 so cable would of been a headache.I have to hook up the electric choke even though its ungodly hot the ca5r is very cold blooded for 15 minutes which includes bogging hard on acceleration from a stop but after 15 minutes the car really gets up and goes and it also runs much smoother than the rochester however i think this is largly due to the fact the adaptor is actually the right size for this carb.
