I am rebuilding an'83 200lm and I bought a Murray Water Outlet (#84838) and it came with a really thin paper gasket - really cheap gasket material in my opinion. So I got on O'Reilly etc and tried to find a better gasket. For an '83 Fairmont 3.3L the search came up with a Fel-Pro High Performance gasket #2202. It looks better. But I don't know if it is better. What's the consensus on water outlet gaskets? Is it worth $25.99 to get the FelPro or just use the Murray paper one (with the proper prep and Rtv)?

Hi, I would use the one it came with. Drop in the thermostat, glue on the gasket, and carefully bolt it on. Good luck

Sounds good B Ron Co. Dang - $17.99 part and $25.99 gasket??
I'll be careful.
(It's going in my '66 Bronco)

Hi, I haven't seen that paper gasket with the O-ring, just the flat paper gasket that they included. The factory style cast iron housings are the best. Good luck
