weber 34 ich orientation-bowl to front or to back?

probably a little late in the game to ask this question, but does it matter which way the float bowl is facing when installed? Should it be towards the front of the vehicle or towards the back-does it even matter on this carb? I suddenly had this stupid idea that maybe I was starving them upon accellleration. I don't believe I have ever come across this question before and have seen them run both ways.

i think theyre supposed to be facing forward, toward the radiator. It may or may not make a difference, idk.

Float bowl forward is the most desirable, float bowl toward the firewall is least desirable. Float bowl toward passenger side is the easiest to hook up linkage if you aren't using cable and works for cruising but you may get a stumble even in a mild turn.

Oh boy.. looks like I'll be doing some work. I didn't want the fuel rail to be over top of the exhaust so I have had them facing the other way since I put them on how many years ago. Does this make them go lean or rich under accel?

How did things work out with rich condition on your outboard carbs ?

Well, I'm still not sure what is exactly going on. it almost sounds like ignition breakout at one point in the curve. I have the leaner jets in and I changed the plugs and it has helped the smoking dramatically, but still isn't running quite right. i think I may need to fool with the dizzy some more.
