So like many car guys i have several projects in mind. I currently own (second owner) a 2012 ecoboost. Its the family daily driver for now and once some money gets freed up we wife is gonna get a 4 door f150 for herself. When that happen and i can start playing around with this truck, im gonna turn her into the truck i had in high school. The pictures of the obs are ones i found while surfing the market place soni have something to go off of when i take it to a paint shop, and the picture of my truck is one i printed out and colored in just to get an idea of what it would look like... well i found out shortly after that the diesel bros had already done the look... oh well still gonna do it... then the next phase will be to get the borla turbo upgrade kit which would put me into the 500+hp range and right around 700 ftlbs of torque... she would end up being the way i wanted my truck in high school to always be like...

I know this aint right forum but U showed up.
The i4 Ecoboost 2.3L (not a bent6) the same as the "Lima"?
Is it just an evolution (the pinto motor, in the ranger later & so on)?
or
clean sheet?
thnx!

From my understanding it is just suppose to be an upgraded lima motor like how the 3.5 ecoboost is just an upgraded duratec motor... soooo yes 🤷🏽‍♂️

oh, cool! I just don't know. Stroked? Spacing, boar, etc,
it is a DOHC tho right?
Ford'n their 'families". Now it's w/the ecoboost'n modular...
wait here's this (Ecoboost)?
"...a completely new design and not a twin-cam development of the Pinto unit. The only DOHC direct derivative of Pinto engine is the Cosworth YB 16-valve engine, powering Ford Sierra and Ford Escort RS Cosworth variants...."
or
"...The Pinto engine was available in five displacements: 1.3 L (1,294 cc), earlier 1.6 L (1,593 cc), later 1.6 L (1,598 cc), 1.8 L (1,796 cc) and the 2.0 L (1,993 cc). Later 2.0 L (1,998 cc). Due to emission requirements, it was phased out towards the end of the 1980s to be replaced by the CVH engine and DOHC engine, the latter being (contrary to popular belief) a completely new design and not a twin-cam development of the Pinto unit. The only DOHC direct derivative of Pinto engine is the Cosworth YB 16-valve engine, powering Ford Sierra and Ford Escort RS Cosworth variants.

The final Pinto engines used in Ford of Europe production vehicles were the 1.6 L (1,598 cc) litre versions used in the Sierra until 1991, and the last 2.0 L (1,998 cc) units were used in the Transit until 1994...."

The Y block and SBF and Cleveland 335 shared the same centers of 4.375, which first came out in the Mercury Y block in 1953. The three engines aren't the same engine, but are built on the same tooling archecture.

The 1988 model year to 2005 model year chain driven DOHC 1.8/2.0/ 2.3 liter English made Four is absolutely based on the same 4.0157 Ford tooling bore spacings as the small EOA Pinto 2000 engine used in the Escort Sierra/ Saphire Cosworth/ Sierra RS500. The small 2.5/ 3.0 Duratech V6 and Yamaha SHO and Aaton Martin V12 all used the same bore spacings and were related to each other. But the 2000 Twin Cam Pinto T series got a turbo only Cosworth head which was belt driven and used an Iron Block. The last of the 1988 model year to 2005 Galaxy 2300 enginea were 4.0157 transfer line baaed and was chain driven. The Volvo style averase 4.173 bore spacing on the US Pinto/Mustang/ Fox and Ranger 2000/2300/2500 engines wasnt built over in England. But Ford did use the same 3.78 Kent bore spacing on the MZR. Duratech is genreral term. When Ford decisea to, it usually shares tooling with other engines. Being General is a GM thing. FoMoCo doesnt always do clean sheet engine's. ...some is borrowed, some is new, some paets are old, but they are always Blue...
