which Autolite 1100 would you rebuild?

I have 2 1100s, both carbs came off of engine cores. One is for a manual trans and manual choke. This carb suits my car. The other core is auto choke and auto trans. The manual trans carb has noticeable play in the throttle shaft bore (guess to be about 0.007 to 0.010 inch diametral clearance). The auto trans carb has a good "tight" slip fit between the bore and throtle shaft.

Note, I am planning on a Weber conversion this winter so I just need this carb to be OK for the next 4-5 months. Right now this car is, by default, my daily driver (my winter car swallowed a valve last month). I need to be able to mount the rebuilt carb, make adjustments and drive off to work the next morning.

I have cleaned the manual/manual carb and have begun to reassemble but am having second thoughts (I have the equipment and sort of the skills to sleeve the throttle shaft but not the time). I suspect that if I rebuilt the auto/auto carb, that I could disable the anti-stall dashpot by removing the rod and delete the auto choke parts and canabalize choke brkts off of the manual/manual carb.

Which one woule you rebuild?

you can use the manual choke parts and convert the auto choke to manual. as far as the anti stall dashpot, i dont think it will cause a problem if its just left alone. so i guess i'd start with the auto.

I remember thinking I could convert an auto to manual choke but I think the main body casting is different and since thats the part with the bad bore I dont think it will do you any good.

I would not worry about the anti stall part. You hardly notice it. If it was a problem you could always leave the check balls out of it.
