Which Weber carb do I use on my 200 67 Mustang?

Can anyone tell me what carb would be best? I would like to update to the 2 bl carb for more performance and I am not sure which is the correct Weber carb to use on a 1967 200ci 3spd manual Mustang? There is a 2 3/4" bolt center(08-K202 Weber 38 Carb Kit) and a 3 5/8" bolt center (08-K200 Weber 38 Carb) and I am not sure what the difference is or what size should I order.

Thanks for the help.

Depends on what you're after...the Weber DFAV (Holley 5200) is a progressive 2-bbl, where the second bore is only open at near-wide-open-throttle. Good for economy and moderate performance.

There's another Weber (ICF???) that's a simultaneous 2-bbl, both bores open together - more of a performance carb.

Then there are DCOE sidedrafts, and several other models.

I am looking for more of a performance carb and that is why I am looking to upgrade to a 2bl carb , but what I am not really sure about is the size to order. Is the manifold opening on the 67 Mustang fit a 2 3/4" carb+ adapter or does it fit the 3 5/8"carb+adapter?

Where are you looking at these Weber carb kits? I've looked at Redline and the other main Weber suppliers, and can't find a K-200 kit anywhere.

The Ford intake opening is something like 1.75 inches, I'm betting they are referring to the bolt spread. I'm not sure what it is, but I'd be glad to measure mine. Keep in mind that there are several different adapters out there for Ford-to-Webers, each with its own pro/con.

Have you looked at Tom Langdon's Stovebolt site? He deals in some Weber conversions, and is a lot less expensive than Redline et al. Don't know if he has the Weber 38, though...

Jamyer, Thanks for the info.

I was looking at the carbs on the Clifford Performance web site.
Here is the link for the two carbs. http://www.cliffordperformance.net/Merc ... rchant.mvc? or you can just try them at www.cliffordperformance.net

On there they show two different size of Carb and I am not sure which one is best for the 200 mustang. I think it has something to do with the bottem of the carb opening.

If you have any other sites that may have better carb options than these, I would be very interested in hearing about them.

Thanks again for your help

OK, I see them now. That's a synchronized Weber 38 carb, which I have no experience with, but there are a couple of others here who do - I'll suggest you either search for info on it or start a new thread asking.

(as an aside, most folks here don't seem to think too highly of Clifford, their prices seem high and their service doesn't seem to be all that great. I have no opinion, just what I've heard.)

At any rate, regarding carb adapters - you'll need to check out this page discussing carb adapters, it'll probably answer your questions and maybe some you haven't thought of. If you decide to go with the Clifford adapter, you'll need to measure the distance between the intake manifold bolt centers, since it replaces the Ford carb adapter plate. Looks like that's the measurement Clifford is referring to.

Regarding carbs, if you go with the Weber DFAV / Holley 5200, you'll want to look at Langdon's Stovebolt, he's got by far the best prices, even though you'll want to either get him to jet it for you or do it yourself.

At any rate, there are quite a few others here with Weber carb of various styles, do some searching and you'll dig up a ton of info. If you hit a snag or need more info, feel free to ask here or maybe start a new thread.
