Whistling 5200!!!

Originally I had the two extra vac ports(top and bottom) on my 5200 connected together with a small hose. With the middle port to the dizzy.
I just now capped them with individual vac caps and my carb is whistling at idle!!!!
No noticeable difference in idle or driving but the squeal is annoying!!! My idle and mix screws are adj a lil high outa spec., but I'm saving up for a PertronixsII and then start over on the idle/mix saga
Any ideas or suggestion before I tear into this????

You know what's funny -- my 5200 does the same thing sometimes. I'm not quite sure but with the car in neutral, sometimes when I'm checking timing and rev the engine I get a whistle. I don't know if that helps but sometimes misery loves company

I have a 2bbl Weber in my daily driver (Renault R12) and it's a really noisy carb. A lot of guys like the sound, specially in a 4 banger, where the exhaust note is not as prominent compared to a I6 or V8 (except if you have a ricemobile).

Yeah at first I thought it might be a vac leak too, did the 'ole carb spray at all the spots and no change.
Did remove the lower vac plug and the whistle stopped but then it obviously started running worse.
Might just have to get a stereo to drown out the sound
