Will Buick Grand National Turbo pistons fit???

If I read the ad right, the pistons have a compression height of 1.800", compared to a 1.505(?- from memory) compression height on our inlines. These wull project above the deck face a quarter inch or so. Looks like no joy here.

dern, lol
Can anyone post the piston specs so I dont have to constantly come here and ask, lol. Then if I find somethin that works, Ill post it
Matt

Not just that...the pistons are too wide. the standard Buick V-6 bore was 3.8", compared to the 3.68" of the 200s. You'd have to bore .120 over.

If your serious about charging- either super or turbo- you may want to locate the top ring groove lower on the piston than if you are running Naturally aspirated- maybe 3/16" NA and 5/16-3/8" if turbo or supercharged

What would that do for me? Ive never heard of that, would like to know more and see if its a good thing to do

Not exactly- (although having a thicker crown on the piston isn't a bad idea for a turbo or supercharged engine)...

The idea is to move the ring further down the piston to reduce it's tendency to get damaged during detonation. The greater distance in the clearance between the piston and cylinder softens the impact pressure if you start to detonate and may save the motor to run another day.

If one is determined, however, to detonate heavily in a pressurized intake motor, you will break it. This will just let you make a little mistake with less consequence
