250 with 3 two barrels

Hey guys..
Thought I'd share my little project with you.
I picked up a D7 head had it baked
and bought 3 stovebolt adapters and C/w carbs and linkage.
I think its kinda cool. Dont know how well it will work, but it will be fun giving it a try.

I like that set up, especially the linkage. I my self am making a daul 2bbl set up right now. Looks good!

That's beautiful. -- You'll need a lot of engine under it . A performance head build is in order.

What's the spec CFM for the C/W's?..

I am not familiar with the C/W 2bbl 's. I have a great running single H/W 2bbl setup on a built D7xx - 250 head on a C9xx 170 that is progressive . I had thought of using a 3X2 H/W's on a 250 since the 3X1's with Holleys usually run the outboard carbs progressive.

I am partial to 3X1's :

Powerband,
To answer your question about the cfms on the carbs i dont know.
Kinda stupid for not knowing, but I never thought to ask Mr Langdon. When I bought them.
I was going to order 3 H/W but Tom suggested I should buy the C/W
figured he'd know best.
The carb paperwork i recieved with the carbs was for a 1983 Ford Escort with a 1.6L

I'll be building the 250 i currently have. I'm aiming for 9.5:1 compression
I still havent figured out what cam will be best for my intake set up.

I'm porting the head as we speak and I plan on unshroudding the valves.

I'm hoping my 63 falcon will be a little screamer..

Nathan

The C/W were standard equipment on a 1.6L ford escort motor. I had thought of something similar, but only using two instead of 3. You should have some wicked air flow when you open them all up. Is your linkage progressive? You may get better throttle response and low-end power if you run off the center carb only...

Have fun, looks cool.

Great!, It seems there is a number of FSP'rs on the same track with 250's and multi carbs debating CR's and related items. The CFM range of the C/W's sounds like it is workable if they were used in 1.6's.

I was building a 250 and I couldn't resist another one that became avilable:

I wouldn't even care if it ran. It looks so bitchin that you must find a way to make it work. Please keep us posted so we (or I, at least) can live vicariously through this multi-carbed adventure.

It may not be right for me to ask - but I will: My 1957 Chevy has a 350 V8, currently w/ an Performer intake and Holley carb. If I were to use the old C26 dual 4 barrel manifold, would two Holley 390s be overkill on a mild street engine? I suppose I could run 2 2 barrels w/ adaptors - but that might look cludged together.

Wrong forum, wrong engine, wrong brand - guilty; but if anyone can offer a little insight here - I would appreciate it.

The linkage can be set up any way I want it to. I'll have to take a close up picture of it so you guys can see it.
Its actually Stovebolts linkage that he offers for the mutiple carb set-up.

Pwerband,
You are very lucky to find that cool Clifford built 250.. You've shown me pics of that set up over on tffn.

Soldmy66,
You are right wrong forum and everything else for your question, but to answer it anyways.. it would be a little much on the carb side of things.
But with Holley's you can always rejet them to a leaner mixture and get away with running them.

I have alot of work to do still before I get this running.. I'm just working on the head right now. I still want to build my botom end..

Does anyone know if you can actually Zero deck a 250 block? Or do I have to find another piston choice and then zero deck?

OK, OK, I suppose you guys are right - I chose the wrong forum. I had a 200 inline 6 for many years - it was bulletproof. I loved that car. Now then, I also love my 57, and oddly find myself drawn to just about all multi-carb set ups.

So I beg the Court's forgiveness. Try to give me a spot of credit though; both 66 Mustangs and 57 Chevys are good cars. I would offer to share other cars that I would like to have, but becuase it is an eclectic bunch - the mods would probably ban me.

Rest assured - even though I no longer have the 200; nonetheless, I read this forum every day.
