250 six power steering

I recently received a power steering bracket and pump for my Bronco that bolted up and is working fine. It uses the old style Thompson pump. I tried a test fit of a newer style pump since I had one and it was not readily compatible. The raised ribs on the front of the pump body did not fit inside the open area of the bracket if that is clear. I have since seen pictures of what appears to be a stock looking bracket with the later style pump on other 250's. Does anyone know if later year 250 engines had different brackets for the other style pump? Thanks in advance for your help.

The Australian Crossflow engines have a Saginaw type PS pump & Bracket.
