which is correct?

what was the color of the engine for my 65 Falcon? my valve cover and head is orange and the block, pan, thermostat housing and ect. are all blue.

depends on what engine you have. If you have a 170 the black and red would be correct for a 200 the blue would be correct.

well, since the engine is red and blue, how can i tell?

count the freeze plugs under the intake.if theres three its a 170.if theres five its a 200,

Were the falcons the same as the mustangs for engine paint codes? If I recall (I'm not a concours expert) even some of the mustang 200s were black and orange. I know my was like that originally (but again, not sure if it was correct). For some reason, I remember reading somewhere that early model year 65's (both V-8 and 200) still had black and orange for awhile.

in a 65 falcon if it was manufactured prior to june of 1965 then it had the reddish color. My engine in mine was the original never been rebuilt and it was a orangish red color once i cleaned off everything that made it look black.
